Photos of our
new place in Wellington. On February 01 we moved into our
first place in NZ, a rented townhouse in Churton Park, Wellington.
As we only brought suitcases with clothes from Bangkok we had to go
around town buying all new furniture for our new place. These
photos give you an idea of where we are staying, some of the rooms
and the furniture we bought. |
6 townhouses, all of the same design;
the only common wall is the one next to our stairs & the kitchen
wall of our neighbors |
Rex surveys the situation; also our
1995 Honda Odyssey that cost NZ$8,500 |
Our street has a bus that goes into
the city; handy for Neil if he works downtown; Roger catches the
bus & from school every day |
The garden could use some work ... |
The view from the deck at the back
is nice |
As is the view from the street; you
can see from the hills that we could use some rain |
Downstairs are the garage & two
bedrooms; this is Rex's bedroom with the Harry Potter design ... |
... and Roger's with SpongeBob
Squarepants... |

very spacious |

February is birthday month for Roger & Rex.
We had a combined birthday party on February 06 [a public
holiday in NZ]. We had been in our new home for less than
a week and only knew one other family, the Mahoneys, who live
nearby; however, we discovered that our neighbors have children
similar ages to Roger & Rex; they were free on that day & came
over to enjoy the party, too. |
2 birthdays, 2 cakes; Roger put his
12 candles together to make an inferno ... |
... but they were easy to blow out
... |
... Rex was more
traditional ... |
Cutting the cake was easy; Rex had
flake bars & marshmallows on his cake ... |
... Roger had chocolate coins &
silver cachous |

The highlight was a piņata ... |
... this is Charlotte Mahoney taking
a swipe ... |
followed by Janet,
our neighbor ... |
... Janet was so strong that the
piņata fell to the ground ... |
... resulting in a free for all to
get the candy! |
... and we had a great day
|
In mid-February
we ventured out to see some sights
in Wellington; first stop, the Cable Car and Botanic Gardens |

Roger & Rex discovered a play area
in the Botanic Gardens |
Where they played .... |
... and played ... |
... and played

... and played some more |
we found a duck pond ... |
... and drank
energy drink! |
