In 2001 we finally bought a digital camera. Now why didn't we do that sooner? It's a Canon Digital Elph, model Powershot S110 (2 megapixels) with 2.5x optical zoom. We're very pleased with the results. Before our Phuket holiday in July 2003 we bought a newer generation Canon Ixus 400 (4 megapixels) with 3.0x optical zoom. Again, the results are fine. (BTW, the Elph & Ixus are the same camera; Elph is the model name in the US & Ixus in Asia.) In 2003 we bought a simple flatbed scanner. So now we have both digital & scanned photos. At the end of 2004 we lost the Digital Ixus 400 camera in the tsunami while in Phuket. We didn't replace it, but bought Nikon Coolpix 3700 cameras for both Roger & Rex. There are two views of the photos - by Year or by Place. The few photos we have prior to 2001 used an old technology scanner and are therefore grainy.
