Neil's 50th birthday was in October.  We celebrated with a homemade birthday cake and a fine dinner at home.

Usa likes to cook with M&Ms -- there may have been more than 50 on the cake ...

... but there were only 3 candles

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you ...

On November 04 the Thai Community in Wellington celebrated the Loy Krathong festival with an all day [5 hour] show.  Rex sang two songs & participated in the Thai Dress competition [coming 2nd thanks to Usa's creative dressmaking in the week before the show] and Usa with her friends appeared in two dances.  It was a busy day for the whole family.

Rex was in a section called Thai NZ Idol ...

... he sang confidently ...

... and won the main prize!

Before all the work we needed to eat

Roger ate, too; he wasn't tired, it's just a lousy photo taken by Dad

Traditional dress lineup [Rex is at the far left end]

Usa had two dancing routines; one from the north east & another traditional Thai

... Usa was often in the 2nd row of dancers

At the end of November Wellington had its annual Christmas parade; the Thai community was represented; Rex was a standard bearer & Usa was a member of the dancing troupe.

Rex during the preparations ...

... a very Thai looking girl (!) was Rex's fellow standard bearer ...

... Usa getting ready ...

... Roger was prepared for a viewing role ...

... but he was unexpectedly attacked by storm troopers

Usa with the rest of the dance troupe ...

... and what would a Christmas parade be without Spongebob?

Roger was hit and injured by a softball warming up for the last softball game of 2006 ...

After seeing the doctor on the day of the injury

On Day 2 - swollen nose & cheek; bruising starting to be visible ...
